My friend and I wanted to go scootering down my wet street. So we did.

We got ready then we going down the hill.  Half way down the hill … “Crash! Bash! Bang!” My friend had broke his hip.  We called the ambulance and we had to go to his house on the way to the hospital.

He is still in his cast.
Mangonui is a great place to live. We need to keep Mangonui clean by not missing the rubbish bin. Mangonui was named after a very big shark. Keeping Mangonui clean is important.  We should do more clean ups so the fish will not be poisoned. In order to shop we have to say we do not need plastic bags. I have my own for shopping.

Rona

Fifty years ago there was a family that lived on Coopers beach and there were two boys.
There was a mum called Rona and a dad they lived in a hut. Rona  was beautiful because
her eyes glowed like a full moon and her skin was like the sparkling sea. But one day the
dad said “we are going fishing because the moon is  just right and make us a hangi”.
Rona was very angry because she had to make the hangi. But she got it all ready for it on the
beach.

But this is the problem - Rona ran out of water.  But it was sunset and she could see them
coming. So she skipped as quickly as she could to the lake.  Then she tripped up on a ngaio
tree because the moon was behind the clouds. Rona was so angry that she said “pokokohua"
to the moon”. Then the moon came down and tightly grabbed her and pulled her into the sky.

When Rona’s family came back they looked at the moon and saw her on the face of the moon.
If you look carefully at night you will see her.

Mangonui Harbour

Silvery diamond mackerels skim the water like speed boats
racing. Whales jump out of the water and dive back under
the ocean. The loud boat engines roar through the
Mangonui harbour.
